Feedback from the Manutan Group.
What does Tale of Data bring to the table to meet these challenges? What were the steps involved in the choice? What are the benefits for Manutan's businesses and customers, both companies and local authorities?

Data driven strategy: key points for Manutan Data quality is a strategic issue for the group, which offers its customers, companies and local authorities, more than 700,000 products and services (office supplies, IT equipment and fittings).
Manutan's objectives are as follows:
optimize all processes that include data;
prepare data for analytical initiatives;
comply with legal obligations.
Manutan : the group Manutan is Europe's largest supplier of products and services to businesses; office supplies, IT equipment and fittings. In short, the Manutan Group is:
- a catalog of more than 700,000 references; - a presence in 17 countries; - 28 subsidiaries in Europe; - 2,300 employees; - a turnover of 820 million euros in 2021.
Governance challenges and issues The group wanted to make the 700,000 references in its catalog available to its customers, companies and local authorities as efficiently as possible. It noticed that its data was not reliable and that there were many inconsistencies. Manutan was looking for a solution to equip both the employees responsible for the data and the business lines to optimize their processes and prepare the data for analytical initiatives, in compliance with legal obligations.
" We needed to industrialize our data quality processes," says Aude Poorjabar, Data Quality and Governance Manager at Manutan.
Why Tale of Data for a data driven strategy?
Following a call for tenders, Tale of Data was chosen because of :
- the quality of the solution to industrialize their data quality processes;
- security and collaborative data analysis and remediation capabilities;
- drastically reducing the number of manual tasks;
- The ability of the software to easily combine different data sources, such as files or databases.
"We developed our use cases according to several criteria that were important to us with different solutions and Tale of Data came out on top," says Mbery Ngom, Data Quality Analyst at Manutan. says Mbery Ngom, Data Quality Analyst at Manutan.
The cost of the solution was also an important criterion.
Manutan's data driven strategy with Tale of Data: the benefits The Tale of Data solution is very easy to use, allows to process large volumes of data and to automate processes. "It is much simpler than an Excel file for example. The solution allows to process rows automatically, to combine different data sources, to reuse workflows and to share them with multiple users" says Mbery Ngom.
" From two different data sources, we prepared a workflow and processed our use case in two hours where it used to take a week using Python scripts ," says Mbery Ngom. This functionality is essential, especially for operational jobs - data managers today, merchandizing managers tomorrow - to prepare data and control it in its multiple uses. In addition, the solution offers a predefined data quality algorithm. It allows to detect, in the workflows, the completeness rate for different product characteristics (the height of a table for example), which allows to define mandatory verification criteria and thus to avoid customer returns.
The solution allows to detect duplicates at the product level, to identify data quality issues and to make corrections, in short to set up a real data governance.
